It is centrally located to everything San Diego. Just a few minutes to everywhere like Gaslamp, Little Italy, Balboa Park, Old Town, Point Loma…I could go on. We enjoyed the local taco shops that have been featured on TV, as well as other great eateries (Snooze!). Great guacamole tacos and tamales at El Indio and surf and turf tacos at Lucha Libro Taco Shop (just a short walk away).
The beautiful view of the bay from the back patio was made even better by watching planes take off and land at the airport below. For those who have never been to San Diego, the airport requires the jets to drop in over a ridge right down onto the runway. From the back patio of this place, you can literally watch them pop from over the ridge and drop right onto the runway, literally all day (it closes to traffic late at night). Also, across the bay, you can see the USS Carl Vinson and the navy ships going in and out, as well as the cruise ships. Always something to see.
Below, there were some complaints of the noise, but we really enjoyed the sights and sounds of the city, and really, if you live/stay anywhere in the big city of San Diego, you’re better be pretty used to jet noise (remember military surrounds SD) and should even enjoy it like I do. After awhile, you really don’t notice it, really.
The house has a well equipped kitchen and everything you need to cook if you want/need to instead of eating out. Sweet TV and sound system setup too! Nice comfy bed too!
I really can’t say enough about this place. We will be back!
The main bedroom has a large comfortable bed, en-suite half bathroom and walk in closet – very cosy. The second bedroom had a smaller but still comfortable bed. The main, modern bathroom has a decent shower and plenty of cupboard space under the sink.
Access to the washing machine and dryer during our 3 week stay was very useful.
All contact with the owners was prompt and courteous. Overall the condo met our expectations and the photos and description on VRBO is accurate and is good value for money. Recommended.
too bad – only 1 runway) and a little noise from the upstairs unit (again not too bad.) The owners were very helpful. A car is needed – driveway parking is provided. Overall, a very positive experience.
Owner response:Thanks so much for sharing your experiences Phoenix! We very much enjoyed meeting you and your adorable family, and are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay! We also appreciate all of your feedback during your time here, and have implemented all of your suggestions. We look forward to hosting you for another SD vacation, or maybe even seeing you in Turkey one day!
The property is very well maintained, incredibly clean and well decorated. The feel of this unit is best described as a modern, high-end beach bungalow. It fits the San Diego vibe just right and felt perfect. Having a fully stocked kitchen is such a bonus. I cannot even begin to quantify how much money we saved by not paying hotel prices for food and cocktails every time you felt like having a snack or a drink.
The views of downtown and the San Diego bay are truly postcard worthy and the sunset over the bay was breathtaking. Pictures on the listing are accurate and we felt the views were actually even better in person. Owners provided a detailed manual that showed us how to operate the TV, sound system, etc. The manual also gives great tips on restaurants and other activities that could only be provided by locals. Thanks for steering us clear of the tourist traps
We will definitely be back and looking to stay in the same unit if we can.
We had a wonderful time staying over at the property and loved how easy it was to get to the various “must-see” destinations San Diego has to offer either by car, tram, or foot! I think the location is top notch.
The view of the bay window is simply wonderful. I enjoyed waking up in the mornings with a hot cup of coffee just watching the planes land on the airport. On the evenings, the window has a STUNNING view of the sunset… best viewed with a mojito on hand!
I loved the no-hassle process of it all and would love to stay there again. The only issue I can think of is the limited parking spots, when staying with multiple vehicles. There are many spots lining the nearby streets though and worse come to worse you get to enjoy a beautiful 1 minute walk back to the unit.
Overall, 5/5 stars. Great value, awesome location, comfy couches, bbq, nice bathroom (i love the water flow out of the shower head!), amenities, will definitely stay here again.
The owners were easy to work with. They were very patience, and very understanding of our needs and multiple questions upon arrival. We met Dan on our first day there, as he helped us checked in, because we failed to read the check in time notice (our mistake). Dan was very helpful, walked us through a few details of the home, including answering our late night phone calls on the tv remote of course, and the famous internet hook ups. Which by the way, is superduper fast. Beds were comfy and our favs too!
We also met our downstairs neighbors, Vicki and her husband. They were very nice and offered many great suggestions on the cities whereabouts.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone except those w/small children like us. And reasons for it, is that we traveled with a small child (2yrs old) and our child when excited became loud, and even ran around the house. We felt bad for our neighbors most of the time due to that. The walls are quite thinned and you can also hear your neighbors downstairs if they drop something or turn on the shower. We also didn’t enjoy the noises from the airplanes, but when you get a chance to see the view of the landing strip, ships harbor view, and the night lights from it all, you tend to forget about the noise level from outside.
We ate out one night at Na Pizza in Little Italy, very good pizza and salads. And we also ate at Ortega Mex off of Washington Ave. which was very tasty. Food shopping was convenient at Vons. We toured the SD zoo, and we tried the famous Coast Toast at Brockton Villa, also saw La Jolla Cove, just beautiful!! One of the best memories we had in SD was staying a great home like this and taking professional family pictures on the beach. These are the two must-do!
pictures, but it did- and then some! This was our first experience with a vacation rental. Thank you for making it an absolutely stellar one!
